Butyl cords are an excellent alternative to vulcanization repairs made with patch pins. Butyl cords will be particularly useful in conditions that prevent repair in a professional vulcanization workshop:
-
quick repair of punctures from screws or nails in a tubeless tire,
-
without removing the tire - the lack of need to remove the tire from the rim greatly facilitates the repair,
- mechanical sealing - effective puncture repair,
-
self-repair - theideal way to repair onyour own, which allows you to continue your journey,
-
efficiency - one 20 cm long cord can last up to 3 repairs.
To make a repair, simply clean / ream the damage with an auger (cutter), and then using an awl pull the cord through the repaired hole. For better results, apply patch glue to the tip of the awl. Moments after the repair, you can continue driving. It is recommended to make a full-fledged repair at a specialized workshop later.
