Pins (also known as "mushrooms") are used for repairing punctures, so-called nail punctures and similar, in radial and bias-ply tires, tubeless and tubeless, using cold technology.

Studs are an excellent alternative to the commonly used repairs using a patch applied at the site of damage alone. A stud repair is a permanent bond between the repair material and the tire. The dowel pin, which is inserted into the hole, prevents moisture from penetrating, which could corrode the tire's steel belt. It also protects the hole from further separation of the various layers of the tire.
