STIX Premium 10 mm patch pin
STIX Premium pins feature a more flexible and stronger rubber compound, they are easier to pull through the hole and the patch fits better on the tire. They are coated with a special layer that activates on contact with the adhesive. STIX Premium Pins are easily recognized by the blue patch border and the aluminum foil protecting the patch from the adhesive side.
Patch pins (also known as "mushroom pins") are used to repair "nail" and similar damage in radial and bias-ply tires, tube and tubeless tires using cold-weather technology. Studs are an excellent alternative to the commonly used repairs using a patch applied at the site of damage alone. A stud repair results in a more permanent bond between the repair material and the tire.
The metal pin of the dowel, which is inserted into the hole, prevents moisture from penetrating, which could corrode the steel reinforcement. It also protects the hole from further separation of the various layers of the tire. Insertion of the pin into the hole is facilitated by a metal rod embedded in the dowel.
Any patch adhesive designed for cold repairs can be used for the studs. Immediately after the repair, the tire can be safely mounted on the rim and inflated.
